Introduction to the Single Vertical Flame Test Apparatus for Insulated Wires and Cables
FTT's Single Vertical Flame Test Apparatus for Insulated Wires and Cables is designed to evaluate the flame retardant performance of a single vertical insulated wire or cable under a 1kW premixed flame condition.
Test Method Fix a 60cm long specimen vertically inside a metal box with an open front wall. The distance between the upper and lower fixing points is 550mm. When fixing the specimen, ensure the lower end is about 50mm from the bottom of the metal box. A propane burner with a flame length of 175mm is positioned at a distance of 450mm from the upper fixing point of the specimen, with the flame cone contacting the cable at a 45-degree angle. Press the cable surface with a sharp object; if the elastic surface becomes brittle (powdery) at a certain point, it indicates the starting point of the charred portion. If the charred portion does not extend more than 50mm from the lower fixing point, the wire or cable passes the test.
FTT's Single Vertical Flame Test Apparatus for Insulated Wires and Cables is supplied as a complete system, including all necessary functions and safe to use. It complies with IEC 60332-1-2 (1kW premixed flame procedure) and IEC 60332-1-3 (flame droplet/particle measurement procedure).
The Single Vertical Flame Test Apparatus for Insulated Wires and Cables includes:
Bench-top open test screen
Horizontal specimen holder
Ignition burner compliant with IEC 60695-11-2, adjustable from 90° to 45°, with gas safety system
Electronic spark ignition
Control unit with safety interlocks, gas and air flow regulation
Divider panel with gas and air mass flow controllers, precisely controlling flow when flame is detected
