How Should Operators Correctly Operate the Withstand Voltage Tester? Yangzhou DARUI

DARUI Electric recommends

Withstand Voltage Tester
According to its function, it can also be called an electrical insulation strength tester, dielectric strength tester, etc. Its working principle is: applying a voltage higher than normal working voltage to the insulation of the device under test for a specified period of time, the voltage applied will only produce a very small leakage current, indicating good insulation. The test system consists of three modules: a programmable power supply module, a signal acquisition and conditioning module, and a computer control system. Two indicators for selecting a withstand voltage tester: the output voltage value and the alarm current value.

How should the withstand voltage tester be operated correctly?

The operator must place rubber insulation pads on the chair and under the feet. Only when the test lamp is off and there is no high voltage output can the connection or disconnection of the device under test be performed.

1. Calibrate the instrument before testing (method: with a leakage current of 5mA, connect a 700KΩ ceramic resistor between the ground clip and the high-voltage test probe until the instrument alarms).

2. Connect the device under test when the voltmeter reads "0" and the test lamp is off. Clamp the ground clip of the instrument to the heat sink of the device under test, and press the power switch of the device under test.

3. Set the instrument test conditions: A. Voltage: 3500V; B. Leakage current: 5mA; C. Test time set to: 4 seconds for assembly line production.

4. Press the test probe tightly against any of the AC input metal plugs of the power cord.

5. Press the start button and observe the test result. If the over-leakage lamp does not light up within the set time, the device under test is considered qualified.

6. If the device under test exceeds the set leakage current value, the instrument will automatically cut off the output voltage, and the buzzer will alarm, and the over-leakage lamp will light up, indicating that the device under test is unqualified. Press the reset button to clear the alarm sound, and press the start button again for the next test.

The withstand voltage tester is also a common electrical testing device used by electricians in our daily life, mainly for the withstand voltage test of polyethylene insulated power cables and the insulation withstand voltage test of large power transformers. It not only has high accuracy but is also very safe during testing. Moreover, the technology it adopts is very advanced, and it can achieve full automation in testing, greatly improving people's work efficiency.
