Introduction to Large Mattress Fire Testing Instrument
On July 1, 2007, the United States officially implemented the new federal mandatory mattress fire safety regulation - 16 CFR Part 1633, requiring that mattress-related products entering the U.S. must mandatorily comply with the fire safety requirements of this directive. 16 CFR Part 1633 is similar to the open flame test of TB 603, requiring mattresses to be exposed to open flames for burning, with the side of the mattress subjected to a 50-second burn, and the top of the mattress required to continue burning for 70 seconds before the ignition source is removed. In terms of test values, the maximum heat release rate must not exceed 200KW; within 10 minutes after the test begins, the total heat release must not exceed 15MJ. Additionally, a prototype test for one model requires three mattress samples to pass simultaneously to be considered qualified.
FTT's Large Mattress Fire Testing Instrument meets the 16 CFR Part 1633 and CA TB 603 standards and can be used to measure the heat release rate of mattresses, furniture, etc., under combustion conditions.
FTT provides various modules, including gas analysis instrument console, ducting, burners, load cells, and software/data acquisition.
The console contains all necessary instruments for measuring heat release rate and other related parameters. The specifications of this instrument are the same for both large and small calorimeters, so it can be used separately from FTT's cone calorimeter.
The ducting section includes probes for gas sampling and air velocity measurement, as well as smoke measurement equipment (white light or laser).
